becoming a believer

If, in your personal spiritual journey you are ready to follow God, then you are about to begin a fantastic adventure. The first step in this adventure is to believe. Our adventure with God is a life of faith. God sent Jesus to die so that we might live.

You may be asking: How does Jesus' death bring us life? In the Bible we read that God spoke to the prophets telling them that all people have sinned. We have not obeyed God and this disobedience has resulted in sin and guilt. The only way to get rid of sin is for God to forgive us, but forgiveness is possible only when the sin is punished. Jesus took on himself our sin and our punishment. Jesus was innocent but God punished Jesus who died on our behalf. Jesus went willing to his death and his death on the cross was God's way to bring forgiveness and new life to you and me. If you will put your faith and trust in Jesus' death as the payment for your sins, then God will forgive you and give you new life. The question now is are you ready to believe?

In addition to being a life of faith, our adventure with God takes us on the narrow way. Jesus tells us that the way to life is narrow and few are those who find it. The narrow way may mean that God will want you to discard some of your previously held beliefs, attitudes, and behavior. Are you ready to enter the narrow way?

If you are ready to follow God, then what is keeping you from trusting him right now? Simply admit your need for forgiveness and tell God that you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. The Bible says that when you turn to God, he will give you eternal life, you will become a child of God, and his Spirit will come to live in you forever.
