Jesus is the greatest teacher who ever lived. One of Jesus' techniques was to relate spiritual ideas to common everyday life. Pensamientos (afterthought) is an attempt to follow Jesus' method of teaching. Its title is in Spanish because we recognize the importance of multi-culturalism. We hope to translate some of these messages into Spanish soon.

Global warming
Whether you believe it's because of global warming or not, no one can deny that this winter (2005/6) has been unusually warm. Some people (in this longitude anyway) think that the warm weather is great. I sure cannot complain about the lower heating costs. But I cannot shake the feeling that something just doesn't feel right. We should not be walking around in shirt sleeves in the middle of January and February. Some experts say that if we don't do something to stop global warming, we will cause catastrophic disasters that may end life as we know it. The same is true in our spiritual lives, but its more like spiritual "cooling". We may be enjoying the benefits of our financially "warm" U.S. economy, but I have a nagging feeling that we are, as a nation, spiritually "cold". Mediocrity, lethargy, and indifference hangs over many churches like a dark cloud. If we don't take steps now to slow this spiritual "cooling", many of our churches will experience catastrophic disaster. How can we reverse this trend? The answer is to eliminate spiritual pollutants that plague our lives. The writer to the Hebrews said, "let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:1-2)."1 Keeping Warm in the Love of Jesus, Pastor SteveFootnotes 1 Hebrews 12:1-2, NASB (New American Standard Bible). Unless otherwise noted all references to the Bible will be from the NASB.
