Pensamientos para hoy (afterthought for today)
Why Muslims should be glad Bin Laden is dead
This week we've all heard the good news that Navy Seals killed Osama Bin Laden. I say this is good news not because I'm gloating or celebrating. The Bible says, "Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles (Proverbs 24:17)." 1
Yet at the same time we can thank God that this mass murderer is now dead. The Bible says, "The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked (Psalm 58:10)." I believe that God used those Navy Seals to carry out justice against Osama Bin Laden. We don't celebrate when someone, even our enemy, suffers or dies; yet we do celebrate when God's enemies and the enemies of God's people are brought to justice.Osama Bid Laden and his Al-Qaeda organization represent a militant faction within Islam that is dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the Church of Jesus Christ, but Al-Qaeda has also targeted Muslims. Al-Qaeda considers many non-Sunni Muslims not to be true Muslims, and this belief has led to many attacks against non-Sunni Muslims. One of the worst such attacks happened in Iraq on August 14, 2007 and is known as "the Yazidi community bombings". In this Al-Qaeda attack, 796 people were killed and 1,562 people were wounded. The majority of those killed and wounded were Muslim Kurds. Many other attacks have been carried out by Al-Qaeda against Shi'a and Ahmadiyya Muslims. In fact, anti-terrorist experts at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point have said that "the vast majority of al Qaeda's victims are Muslims."2
So yes, all peace-loving people, whether they be Christians, Jews, or Muslim should be glad that justice has been brought against Bin Laden, because he was a hate-filled mass murderer of Christians and Muslims. Now that he is dead, he will have to face God who will deal with him according to his all-wise and fair judgment.
Yours in Jesus,
Pastor Steve

Jesus is the greatest teacher who ever lived. One of Jesus' techniques was to relate spiritual ideas to common everyday life. Pensamientos (afterthought) is an attempt to follow Jesus' method of teaching. Its title is in Spanish because we recognize the importance of multi-culturalism. We hope to translate some of these messages into Spanish soon.
