Pastor Steve Lorenz
I became a Christian in 1978 while in the US Air Force. This was the single greatest event in my life. Soon afterward, I sensed God's call to serve him on the mission field.
I met Kathy, a wonderful Christian woman who also wanted to serve the Lord, and we were married in 1981. We both graduated from The Criswell College in Dallas, Texas and as part of our preparation for cross-cultural ministry we worked in Japan as summer missionaries with the Overseas Missionary Fellowship. After this I studied cross-cultural ministry at Dallas Theological Seminary.
In 1991 Kathy and I went to the Philippines with The Evangelical Alliance Mission to do church planting and evangelism. As a result of this work a church was formed that continues to spread the love of Jesus.
We returned to the U.S. in 1995, and I accepted a call to First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, New Jersey where I served as Minister of Outreach for nine years. It was an exciting ministry. Many people found Jesus as Savior, and the church grew. During this time I completed my Masters of Ministry at Baptist Bible Seminary.
Then in 2006 God opened the doors for a senior pastorate at Trinity Church in Teaneck, New Jersey where I have the privilege of serving a wonderful congregation of loving Christians.
Kathy and I have four wonderful children and three beautiful grandchildren.
I'm 62 years old. I'm an adjunct instructor at Essex County College where I've been teaching religion for the past 10 years. I'm a website developer. I love to fish on the Jersey shore. I sing and play guitar in our church praise band, and I'm an avid cyclist and serve as secretary of the Major Taylor Cycling Club of New Jersey. During the summer of 2016 the church allowed me to take a two-month sabbatical during which I rode my bicycle 3,246 miles across the U.S. from Oregon back to my home in New Jersey.
